A Complete Study Guide For AKU-EB Students

A Complete Study Guide For AKU-EB Students

Aslam-O-Alaikum Friends!😇

I have written this article for the students of AKU-EB who are ambitious enough to score well. In this article, I will share my experience and guide you accordingly. I will introduce you to the boarding institute and how it is different from other boards of education within Pakistan. There are many points to be told regarding listening, reading, writing and academic scheduling. I have found AKU-EB to be the most result-oriented board based in Pakistan.💪

Aga Khan University Examination Board shortly termed as AKU-EB is based in Karachi, Pakistan. It is run by the Aga Khan University which is The #1 Medical University in Pakistan and it has international collaborations too. This boarding institute was formed to introduce a modern way of education and to eradicate the culture of rote learning. Before this, there was a lack of quality education, and Pakistani students were facing many issues in terms of research and job opportunities. Even if they were intelligent, they had no standard to compete on international platforms because they were used to memorising like dumb and Even the basic concepts of Science were not clear. Since students were lacking, AKU-EB got the privilege of providing basic education in the proper way that it should be delivered.

We are used to studying not only from the recommended textbooks but also study from different O/A levels and international books. We read the contents of Sindh Textbook, Punjab Textbook, KPK Textbook and vice versa. In AKU-EB, there are no boundaries to get knowledge whether it is from a textbook or the internet. The board has designed our Syllabus in a way that we could understand and apply the knowledge in real life that we gain from our books. Interestingly, SLOs (Student Learning Outcomes) are compiled so perfectly that meet the criteria of advanced and modern studies. Several SLOs cover current affairs, world politics, everyday situations, letters/applications, CVs or resumes, personality, and problem-solving strategies that each student must have to compete and achieve success in his life. Seriously, these are the skills that groom the students academically and personality-wise too. That is why, AKU-EB students easily qualify for the top-ranking universities of Pakistan (NED, MUET, DUET, NUST, PIEAS, AGA KHAN, People’s Medical College, DOW, IST, IBA).🏫

Transparent examinations are conducted as per the instructions provided by the Aga Khan University Examination Board every year. There is no cheating or illegal way to pass the exams. The board is so strict that if anyone is found involved in illegal activities is not only fired but legal authorities are informed to act. There are 0% chance of paper being leaked. The paper is not prepared by a single teacher, but several teachers prepare them. After this, a senior one compiles the strong questions to be printed on the papers. Every exam copy has a barcode that is produced for the specific candidate with his own identity and name. Every candidate has his own copy, and he must sign it only. The papers are locked in the HBL bank of every city to avoid any mishappenings. They are only provided to the invigilator staff on the day of the exam. Also, the paper gets checked by several E-Checkers for accurate and deserving markings. Hence, AKU-EB is the only educational platform that you can trust.

The more you learn if more you read. Students demand how they can improve their English. So here I would suggest you best ways to improve and learn English as a second learning language. I know that we are used to talking in Urdu, Sindhi, or any provincial/local language but you must know that English is the official language of Pakistan. Everything including billing and drafting in banks or offices is done in English. There are three sections of English we study under AKU-EB, namely, Reading, Writing and Listening. The Internet is full of bright and colourful articles plus heartbreaking news if you read. Tune your TVs to international news channels and get yourself updated. Practice basic English grammar and write a paragraph of more than five sentences without any grammatical errors. Get it checked by your teacher or tutor and ask him what to improve. For the listening (audio recording), Utilize the past papers' audio records. I have shared the past papers of AKU-EB with media records that you can download from markhorwrites.blogspot.com. I have also uploaded the Answer Keys for your help so that you can optimize your potential in listening comprehension.✌

*Follow books of "O and A levels by Redspot 1000 MCQs" for Paper 1 Practice. Books are easily available in the local market.

For the listening, whether it is of English or Urdu you must listen carefully to the speaker. Do not be hesitate or shy to complain, invigilator, if the voice/sound is not clear from your side in the exam hall. Often, the sound makes a large echo that makes listening inaudible. From beginning to end, all things are important to understand the type of listening comprehension. Once the recording is completed, skim the main MCQs so that you can answer them when they are played again. Once you confirm the answers and mark then move ahead. Fewer times, you miss the points so do not panic and just bother yourself. Take a long breath apply a random pick trick 😊 and prepare yourself for the next section.

You make mistake if you do not sleep. The night before exams, students are used to studying for the late-night at, but you should not do this again. It is possible to memorize all the things that you had studied last night but you have just stolen your time of sleep. Importantly, our sleep plays a main part in the nervous system since the more you sleep it relaxes you. While attempting the paper, your brain would not perform well on the tricky questions and you would find yourself making several mistakes. It is because you are taking extensive work from your brain. Even the things that you had memorized well would also contain errors. To make your brain active and present, you must sleep well at least for more than 7/8 hours.💤 Wake up early in the morning to perform Fajr prayer. Just after prayer, revise all those contents in which you find yourself in difficulty.

Leave all the revision or memorization at least 2 hours before the exam. Otherwise, it may cause anxiety or a temporary headache. Just pray to almighty Allah for your ease and help. Be positive and relaxed while sitting in the examination hall. Just smile inside and get yourself satisfied with whatever hardships you have done to prepare yourself at this stage and always hope for good.💫

To score well, I was used to utilizing my free time for something useful. Wherever I travel, I am used to reading the NEWS in English from the Google News app. If the internet was not available, then I had pre-downloaded the science books in PDF related to my studies so often I was used to reading them. Although, school or college time was so precious for me that I spent every minute effectively for studies while leaving all art club and games periods. I say that we go to school/college for studies only but not for play, if you would play there then you would be required to spend your home time doing assignments. Would you like to spend your all home time doing these things? Comment below to share your say. 😊

After school timing, when I was to arrive home, dinner was all time ready and may Allah give everyone a Halal meal. All the “Rizq” is from Allah and we must thank them. Alhamdulillah, I have the privilege that I never attended any academy or tuition in my whole life since I was used to studying at home, and I believe in self-studies. And it is a long journey of success and I would recommend you study by yourself. Because to teach yourself you would go through every step to make yourself understand any topic. Despite this, if you have difficulty or any issue regarding your studies you can go to the academy but personally, I do not recommend it.

You learn more if you teach. Respect your teachers and elders for what they say. Learn from their experiences and let them share their ideas and thoughts. Do whatever you like but respect everyone.

May Allah Give My Teachers A Long Life as they said: “If you are taught you would learn 30% of that thing but if you teach someone, then you’re learning above 95% of that thing.”

Decide whether are you a “Night Owl” or "Day reader". You just must find it by yourself that at what time you study effectively and have a good understanding. Also, find a corner to study at your home and avoid keeping a mobile phone near you especially when you study. Drink water after every hour of study because it helps the brain and body to hydrate and boost. Taking sweet candies or anything sweet while studying is another tip that can help you energize your brain. Do not get nervous and go through markhorwrites.blogspot.com to find AKU-EB notes and materials.

Get your Past Papers printed off at least the last five or ten years. Solve the past papers as you read the lessons of the subjects. In this way, gradually your past papers would be completed, and you would have a more advanced understanding level. Go through the “Supplementary Past Papers” of the September examination because questions also get repeated from them. You can download the supplementary past papers by clicking on SEPTEMBER PAST PAPERS.

At last, I want to add that scoring good does not make someone superior but what makes you supreme is your Behaviour, Etiquette and Taqwa. If you are a good scorer and you have A1, A+ OR A grades but if you do not have a good personality you are nothing more than ash without fire. You must be skilled and intelligent enough in a way that everyone could approve of you. Everything changes with time and time is precious. Take respect if you would give respect. Today, the treasure that you would give to these books would also return you treasures of mysteries someday.

I hope that you have gained premium experience from my side that would help you out in your studies.
